Our PLAS family loves being groomed, petted or sometimes just kept company to help them adjust to different circumstances. Many skills can be helpful to our sanctuary. One of the best reasons to volunteer is that it is tied to something you are passionate about. A recent study showed that 95% of volunteers surveyed said they gained a "helper's high" volunteering, so it truly is a feel-good activity.
 

Please Note: All volunteers must be 18+ years old and while it's not required, we do prefer someone with experience. We are an ethically vegan farm. You do not need to be vegan to volunteer here, however, we ask that you respect and abide by our rules while on the property.

ANIMAL CARETAKER VOLUNTEERS

These volunteers will have the most hands-on experience with the animals.
Volunteers will NOT be able to ride horses at the sanctuary.

Experience Required: None but must love animals
Animal Interaction: Horses, pigs, goats, alpacas, donkeys, sheep, roosters, ducks, dogs, cats. 

Example of Duties: 

• Mucking stalls

• Brushing the animals

• Putting out hay bales

• Cleaning pens

• Watering/feeding ​

MANUAL LABOUR VOLUNTEERS

Not really an animal person? That's ok, we need help with other stuff!

Experience Required: Yes.
Animal Interaction: Interaction with the animals may happen but is not required for this volunteer opportunity
Example of Duties:

• Machinery maintenance

• Construction and repair of shelters 

• Fence construction and repair

• Irrigation installation 

• Paddock maintenance

• Hay stacking

FUNDRAISER AND EVENT VOLUNTEERS

Not an animal person and not so handy? Fear not, we've got something for you too!

Experience Required: Preferred
Animal Interaction: Interaction with the animals may happen but is not required for this volunteer opportunity.​
Example of Duties: 

• Helping and/or planning fundraisers and events

• Social media outreach 

• Setup and teardown​ ​

OFFICE VOLUNTEERS (virtual)

Experience Required: Yes. Willing to train in some cases.
Animals Interaction: Interaction with the animals may happen but is not required for this volunteer opportunity.
Example of Duties: 

• Volunteer recruitment assistance

• Group Events: scheduling, prepping, monitoring, thanking volunteers.

• Creating forms and marketing materials

• Experienced marketing volunteer for campaigns, social media, SEO, advertising
